Storm take 9th at Augustana, top regionally ranked Cornell

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Junior Ryan Edwardson (Spencer, Iowa) paced the Simpson men's cross country team, finishing ninth-place at the Brissman/Lundeen Cross Country Invitational on Friday.

The ninth-place finish put Simpson five points ahead of Cornell, ranked sixth in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Central Region poll.

"We had a great race today," head coach Brad Hofer said. "I'm proud of the way our team is working and pushing through in the second half of the race. We ran very strong as a team today."

Wisconsin-Stevens Point won the meet with 23 points, followed by host Augustana (55) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (88).

Edwardson placed 26th, completing the 8k course at the Saukie Golf Course in 25:52.0. Freshman Joe Farrand came in 69th (26:32.3) and junior Matt Stone took 72nd (26:34.8).

Sophomore Mitchell Davis came in 91st (26:48.3), sophomore Jake Sutton placed 148th (27:36.4), sophomore John Warnke took 150th (27:36.9) and junior Ben Duea finished 172nd (27:52.1).

The Storm have a week off before traveling to the Dan Huston Invitational in Waverly Oct. 9.
