Walkwitz earns bronze at A-R-C Individual Tournament

DECORAH, Iowa -- Senior Peter Walkwitz finished with a bronze in the B-Singles flight in the American Rivers Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday for Simpson College men's tennis.

Walkwitz started the tournament with a victory in the first round over Luther's Aidan Hunter in a three-set thriller. He cruised in the second and quarterfinal rounds before dropping a match in the semifinals. In his final appearance, Walkwitz won 8-4 against Loras' Konnor Barth to pace the Storm.

Junior Ethan Humble reached the quarterfinals in B-Singles after displacing his first opponent in three sets before an 8-1 triumph propelled him into the quarterfinals. Junior Aaron Price won his opening match in the first round, but did not advance past the second round in B-Singles.

Junior Jake Brend advanced to the second round in C-Singles, but dropped his match to close out his weekend.

The duo of Adam Velazquez and Chase Henry won 8-3 in their first round contest in B-Doubles to advance, but fell in the second round.

This closes out the fall for Simpson as the team returns to action Feb. 5 at St. Ambrose.
