Simpson clips Morningside in road match

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- The Simpson College men's tennis team stepped away from American Rivers Conference action to earn a 5-2 win at Morningside on Friday.

The Storm (3-9) won four of their singles matches and took two of three in doubles play for the point to clip the Mustangs (4-8).

Simpson rallied back after dropping the No. 1 doubles bout. The duo of Peter Walkwitz and Ethan Humble prevailed at No. 3, before Reade Reiter and Brett Dewerff earned the point by winning 7-5 in the No. 2 slot.

Just like doubles play, Morningside won the first singles match at No. 1. The Storm would win the next three to take a 4-1 advantage to win the match.

Aaron Price (No. 2), Walkwitz (No. 4) and Dewerff (No. 6) all won in straight sets for the squad.

Ethan Humble won his first set, but dropped his second to reach a third set at No. 5 singles. The sophomore tallied a 1-0 (4-0) victory in the third to win.
