Storm earn win to close regular season

CLIVE, Iowa - The Simpson men's tennis team swept doubles competition and won four of six singles matches in earning a 7-2 win in the season finale against Minnesota-Morris Friday at 7 Flags Fitness and Racquet Club.

The match was moved to the indoor facility due to the threat of rain.

With the win, the Storm (3-14) close the book on the first regular season under first-year head coach, Bill Wright. Simpson will take part in the Iowa Conference Individual Tournament, which will be held May 7-8 at Veterans Memorial Tennis Complex in Cedar Rapids.

Noah Saunders (Norwalk, Iowa/Norwalk) led Simpson with a win at No. 1 singles and joined Adam Summit (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) for a win at No. 1 doubles. Saunders defeated Geoffrey Giraud 6-2, 6-2, and teamed with Summit for an 8-6 win in doubles.

Lucas Haack (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny), Luke Riesselman and Brandon Christensen (Clive, Iowa/West Des Moines Valley) took wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

At No. 2 doubles, Daniel Schneider (Fort Madison, Iowa/Fort Madison) and Haack earned an 8-2 win while Riesselman and Kyle Ruehle (Cherokee, Iowa/Washington) earned an 8-3 win at No. 3.
