No. 18 Loras snaps Simpson’s win streak

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Simpson men's basketball team had its hands full against the top-scoring team in the American Rivers Conference on Saturday and lost 100-79 at No. 18 Loras, snapping a three-game win streak.

The Storm (12-8, 6-6 A-R-C) shot 48.4 percent from the floor and both teams shot 50 percent from three, while the Duhawks had 56.1 percent of their shots fall.

The first half was all Loras as it cruised into half with a 51-26 lead. Adam Reiter and Tyler Stumbo teamed up to score 21 of Simpson's 26 points in the first half. The duo combined to go 9 of 12.

Coming out of intermission, the Storm improved its shooting and went 7 of 11 from three and 20 of 37 from the floor, compared to just two makes from deep and 11 overall in the first half.

Reiter kept pace and added eight more points to his statline for a total of 19 and Kyle Wagner tallied 10 points in the final 20 minutes of play and had 13 for the game. Stumbo finished with a season-high 16 points.

Ryan DiCanio and Josh Ruggles each had 20 points for Loras. Demond George provided offense as well with 18 points.

GAME NOTES

The Storm had its worst rebounding game of the season with only 21, while Loras grabbed 41, which is three more than its season average of 38 … Simpson won the turnover battle with only seven miscues, while forcing 12.
