Vogel named to all region team

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson football player Brad Vogel earned all-region honors for the second time in his career when he was named to the D3football.com 2013 All-West Region Third Team.

A senior from Donnellson, Iowa, Vogel was a first team selection as a returner in 2012 and landed on the All-Iowa Conference First Team this season.

The 5-7, 165-pound slot receiver led the team with 56 catches for 717 yards and eight touchdowns in 2013 despite missing one full game and parts of two more due to injury. His 6.2 catches and 79.7 yards per game ranked second in the league.

Vogel surpassed 100 yards receiving in four games and closes his career as Simpson's all-time leader in all-purpose yards (5,687), kick return yards (2,601) and kick returns (111). He earned IIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 22 after catching eight passes for 115 yards and a touchdown in a 35-34 win over UW-River Falls on Sept. 21.
