Vogel named IIAC Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Simpson football player Brad Vogel earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sept. 18, the conference office announced Monday.

Vogel, a sophomore from Donnellson, Iowa, returned six kickoffs for 177 yards in the Storm's 34-26 loss at Coe on Sept. 17. He returned the opening kickoff of the game 42 yards to set up Simpson's first field goal, then returned a second quarter kickoff 60 yards to set up the Storm's first touchdown.

Vogel also caught two passes for 20 yards and carried the ball twice for 15 yards.

The Storm look for their first win of the season this Saturday when they travel to Dubuque to take on Loras. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
