Women’s tennis closes fall season at IIAC Individual Tournament
WATERLOO, Iowa — The Simpson women's tennis team closed the fall season by competing in the Iowa Conference Individual Tournament, which took place at Byrnes Park over the weekend and concluded Saturday.
Kelly Kuebler and Sierra Griffith picked up singles wins for the Storm while a pair of doubles teams advanced to the quarterfinals in flight B.
Kuebler and Griffith both earned win in the C flight of the singles competition. Kuebler earned an 8-6 win over Buena Vista's Emily Hoesing in the play-in round before losing a tough 9-7 decision to Holly Vander Pol of Central. Griffith edged Luther's Katie Johnson 9-8 (9-7) in the first round before getting knocked out by Dubuque's A. Palacios Quinonez of Dubuque 8-6.
The doubles teams of Megan Bradley/Liz Nimmo and Cassidy Bierbrodt/Sidney Griffith won their first two matches in B doubles, advancing to the quarterfinals.
