Simpson falls to Graceland

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision against Graceland on Wednesday at Buxton Tennis Complex.

The Yellowjackets (1-0) took 2 of 3 doubles contests before closing out with four singles victories.

Allison Anderson got a big win at No. 2 singles for the Storm (1-3), beating Andrea Tamez in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (6-1). Michelle Hartman picked up the other singles win, beating Heidi Myer 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.

The team of Lauren Schemmel and Rami Vokt came away with a win at No. 3 doubles, beating Samantha Lewis and Myer 8-6. Schemmel added a near-miss at No. 5 singles, battling Lewis to a super-tiebreaker before falling 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.

Simpson returns to action this weekend when it hosts a pair of Iowa Conference matches against Loras (9 a.m.) and Dubuque (2 p.m.)
