Morrow headlines women’s basketball all-conference selections
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson senior Noreen Morrow earned first team honors for the second straight season to highlight the Storm's three selections to the 2018 All-Iowa Conference Women's Basketball Team, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches.
Sophomore Jenna Taylor and freshman Victoria Hazard earned honorable mention honors.
The Storm and 31st-year head coach Brian Niemuth enjoyed a five-game turnaround in 2017-18, going 14-13 overall after enduring a 9-16 campaign in 2016-17. The Storm qualified for the Iowa Conference Tournament with the No. 6 seed, advancing to the semifinals after a 90-85 overtime win over third-seeded Coe in the first round.
Wartburg's Katie Sommer earned Most Valuable Player honors and Luther's Laura Hamilton took home Defensive Player of the Year accolades. Wartburg's Bob Amsberry was named Coach of the Year.
2017-18 All-IIAC Women's Baksketball Team
Noreen Morrow — First Team
Morrow capped off stellar career with one of her best seasons in 2017-18. The three-time All-IIAC performer led the Storm in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in to rank in the top 10 in the IIAC in both categories. The 6-foot-2 senior from Lake Park, Iowa, finished her career 11th in school history in total points (1,125) and sixth in rebounds (597). She led the league in field goal percentage (56.6 percent) and posted six double-doubles during the season. She reached double figures in scoring in 23 of 27 games and posted a career-high 28 points in the Storm's upset win over Coe in the first round of the IIAC Tournament.

Jenna Taylor — Honorable Mention
Taylor had a strong sophomore campaign after missing all of the 2016-17 season due to injury. The 6-foot tall forward from Creston, Iowa averaged 10.3 points and 5.0 rebounds, finishing second on the team in scoring. She started 25 of 27 games in her first season of action and made 33 3-pointers, second-most on the team. Her 85.3 free throw percentage led the team and her 33-point outburst against Central on Jan. 17 were the most points scored by a Simpson player in five years.
Victoria Hazard — Honorable Mention
Hazard made an immediate impact for the Storm in her rookie season. The 5-foot-10 freshman guard from Janesville, Iowa started all but one game, averaging 9.6 points and 2.4 rebounds. The playmaker led the team with 93 assists and scored in double figures 16 times. She scored a season-high 17 points against Wartburg on Jan. 13 and matched the effort again at Loras on Feb. 14.
