MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - MacKenzie Haupt had 15 points, Katie Ahrenholtz scored 12 off the bench and the Simpson women's basketball team made easy work of Goucher with an 83-55 win in the first game of the Cruzin' Classic on Wednesday afternoon.

Simpson raced out to a 46-16 halftime lead and coasted from there, extending its winning streak to seven.

Olivia Nono scored seven points and pulled down 12 rebounds and Briana Bull led the team with 12 points for the Towson, Md. based Gophers (3-5).

The Storm (8-1) never trailed, overpowering Goucher from the onset by building a 15-0 lead. The Gophers didn't convert from the field until the 13:26 mark in the first half and shot less than 26 percent in the opening 20 minutes.

None of Simpson's starting five - Haupt, Rachel Kaale, Britney Boland, Whitney Van Wyk and Brittany Hedrick - played more than six minutes in the second half. Simpson's bench stepped up, accounting for 28 points in the second half and 45 for the game.

Annie Gullickson scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds and Taryn Barz added eight points, joining Ahrenholtz to lead the reserves.

Up Next: Simpson takes on St. Thomas (Fla.) at 4 p.m. EST in its final game at the Cruzin' Classic on Thursday. The Bobcats (5-2) - who compete in the NAIA - beat Grace 75-63 on Wednesday and have won 4 of 5.
