Storm among nation's best in team, individual categories
INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson softball team is off to a torrid start in 2018 and has been putting up impressive numbers along the way.
Through games played as of Sunday, March 18, the Storm rank in the top 10 nationally in five team categories: shutouts, batting average, runs scored per game, on-base percentage and triples per game. In addition, six individuals rank among the top 50 in the country in nine categories.
Simpson led the nation with eight shutouts through last week but fell behind Maryville (Tenn.). The Scots lead the nation with 10 shutouts, but have already played 21 games, seven more than the Storm.
Kayla Reusche ranks highest among the Storm's individuals, coming in at No. 3 in number of times hit by pitch per game.
