Thompson, McKenzie lead men’s cross country to convincing win
INDIANOLA, Iowa — Simpson upperclassmen Trey Thompson and Ian Mckenzie finished one-two to highlight six top-10 finishers, and the Storm breezed to a first-place finish at their own Buxton Invitational from Pickard Park on Friday evening.
Simpson finished with 21 points, ahead of Hawkeye CC (40) and Grand View (85).
Thompson, a junior, ran the 6k loop in 19:41, five seconds ahead of the senior Mckenzie. A pair of freshmen factored into the top seven, led by Seth Nostrala's 20:09.
