Meints named IIAC Special Teams Player of the Week

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Braden Meints is the Iowa Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after helping the Simpson football team win the field position battle in its win over Coe on Saturday, Oct. 17.

A sophomore punter/wide receiver from Garner, Iowa, Meints pinned Coe inside its own 15-yard line on each of his three punts. He placed punts at the 12, 13 and 12, the last of which came with 42 seconds left and Coe trailing by three. Coe drove to the Simpson 30 before an Isaac Frazier sack took the Kohawks out of field goal position and caused a last-second Hail Mary attempt. Meints was also the team's second-leading receivier, making three catches for 29 yards.

Meints is the third player this season to earn Iowa Conference weekly accolades in 2015. Running back Davey Jergens was named IIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 6 following the win over Wis.-River Falls and running back Jordan Beem was also named IIAC Offensive Player of Week on Oct. 4 after the win over Buena Vista.

The Storm (3-3, 2-1 Iowa Conference) go to Loras on Saturday, Oct. 24.
