Storm continue to grow, place 23rd in Wisconsin

WEST SALEM, Wis. – Led by Lindsey Borgomainerio the Simpson women's cross country team ran to a 23rd place finish against a talented crop of teams at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational on Saturday.

Racing on a wet, muddy course that endured rain for hours leading up to the race, head coach Heath Moenck was pleased with his team's effort.

"We continue to take steps forward," the second-year head coach said. "I love the toughness we ran with today."

The Storm's top finisher for the second week in a row, Borgomainerio placed 102nd, completing the 6k course in 24:46.4.

Shelby King placed 133rd (25:42.5), RaeLea Jones 134th (25:43.7), Leah Clark 140th (25:53.9), Breanna Gaster 147th (26:02.4), Amelia Borgomainerio 154th (26:21.4) and Lauren Doocy 157th (26:24.1) to round out Simpson's top seven.

Minnesota won the meet with 82 points, followed by Wartburg (99), Iowa Central (101), St. Olaf (115) and Luther (132).

One of the largest collegiate meets in the nation, 433 individuals took part in the event, hosted annually by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Next up for Simpson are the Iowa Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
