Amburgy named IIAC Swimmer of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson women's swimmer Christina Amburgy earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Performer of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 26.
A sophomore from Knoxville, Iowa, Amburgy helped Simpson to three first-place efforts in a pair of dual losses over the weekend.
In Friday's dual against Iowa Lakes, she helped Simpson to a win in the 200 medley relay (2:03.3) while taking second in the 100 freestyle (56.59) and 200 freestyle (2:06.3). In Saturday's dual against Coe, Amburgy won the 100 butterfly (1:05.5) and again helped Simpson win the 200 medley relay (2:04.0). She also finished second in the 50 freestyle (26.5).
Amburgy and the Storm travel to Grinnell for a double dual with Grinnell and the Nebraska Club Team on Friday, Jan. 31.
