Kalinay named IIAC Performer of the Week
INDIANOLA, Iowa - On the heels of a conference-best effort in the 60-meter hurdles, Simpson's Dylan Kalinay earned Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 22.
Kalinay, a freshman from Toledo, Iowa, finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles behind three Division I runners at the UNI Dome Open Feb. 20. He stopped the watch in 8.40 seconds in the finals after posting an IIAC-best time of 8.33 in the prelims. The time also ranks 20th in Division III.
Kalinay also ran season-best times in the 60 dash (7.22) and 200 (23.32), both of which resulted in seventh-place finishes.
The Storm will compete in the IIAC Championships this weekend in Waverly. The meet begins Friday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. and continues through Saturday.
