Storm take part in Dutch Athletics Classic

PELLA, Iowa – The Simpson track and field teams turned in six, top-five efforts at the Dutch Athletics Classic on Friday and Saturday. The women's team placed 11th while the men came in 7th.

MEN'S RECAP

Dylan Kalinay placed third in the 55-meter hurdles, Brice Sheeder took fourth in the 600 meters, Isaac Frazier came in fourth in the heptathlon and Mitch Stoltzman placed fourth in the pole vault to lead the men's team to a seventh-place finish of 10 teams.

Kalinay posted the No. 4 qualifying time in the 55 hurdles before jumping up a place in the finals, finishing in 8.09 seconds. Sheeder ran a 1:26.20 in the 600 meters and Frazier scored 4,136 points in the heptathlon. Frazier shined in the high jump and 55 hurdles, tying for first in the high jump (6-7 ½) and taking third in the hurdles (8.32). Stotlzman cleared 12-5 ½ in the pole vault.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES

  • Miles Kirts placed eighth in the mile run (4:43.59) and Salem Hildebrandt took ninth (4:53.60).
  • Jackson Redmond placed sixth in both the high jump (5-10 ½) and the triple jump (39-9 ¼).
  • The team of Sheeder, Brandt Seward, Triston Twedt and Trevor McKee placed sixth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:33.79).

WOMEN'S RECAP

Bayley Fleshner turned in top-six efforts in the 55 hurdles and the long jump and Elisa Wildy took fifth in the triple jump as a short-handed women's team placed 11th of 11 teams.

Fleshner crossed the finish line in 8.81 seconds in the hurdles and leapt 15-0 ½ in the long jump. In the triple jump, Wildy reahed 32-3 ¾.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES

  • Lauren Doocy came in 10th in the 1,000 meters (3:34.09).
  • The team of Lauren Martin, Courtney Neuendorf, Jessica Lamb and Keeghan Corcoran placed 10th (4:29.62).
