DECORAH, Iowa – Dylan Hogan played to a fourth-place finish in Flight C Singles, leading the Simpson men's tennis team at the Iowa Conference Individual Tournament at Luther on Friday and Saturday.

The top seed in the flight, Hogan received a bye in the first round before beating Luther's Brian Kurtz 9-8 (5). He had a little more breathing room in his next match, beating Buena Vista's Kyle Weeden 8-3.

Hogan fell to eventual-champion Coy Weigemann of Wartburg 8-2 in the semifinals and lost to Buena Vista's Dillon Nevius by the same score in the consolation match.

Alex Hook picked up the only other win in singles action for the Storm. Competing in the A bracket, Hook blanked Buena Vista's Jason Ehrhardt 8-0 in the first round. In round two, he had the misfortune of meeting eventual champion Nick Garcia of Dubuque, falling 8-1.

In doubles action, the team of Hook and Blake Billings advanced to the quarterfinals in the B bracket before bowing out. The tandem received a bye in the first round and beat the team of Hernandez and Erce from Loras 8-3 in the second. They ran up against Coe's duo of Brochet and Kleymann in the quarters, losing a hard-fought, 9-7 decision.
