Summit, Hogan, Linden place at IIAC Championships

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Adam Summitt finished second in Flight B Singles and Dylan Hogan and Nathan Liston placed second and fourth, respectively in Flight C Singles at the Iowa Conference Individual Men's Tennis Championships this weekend.

Summitt teamed up with Alex Hook in Flight B Doubles, taking third.

Entering the tournament with the No. 3 seed in Flight B, Summitt advanced to the semifinals where he met top-seeded Alex Klaas of Coe. Summitt knocked off Klaas 6-3, 6-4 and advanced to the championship against Dan Warden of Luther. Warden took a 6-2, 6-4 decision in the championship, leaving Summitt in second.

Fifth-seeded Hogan and sixth-seeded Liston made plenty of noise in the Flight C bracket.

Hogan made it to the championship match with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) upset of top-seeded Tyler Wilson of Coe. In the title match, Scott Kleymann of coe notched a 7-5, 6-1 win over Hogan.

Liston won three matches on the bottom half of the bracket before meeting up with eventual-champion, Kleymann. Kleymann advanced with a 6-2, 6-2 win, sending Liston to the consolation match. There, Liston fell to top-seeded Wilson, 6-3, 6-1.

In Flight B doubles action, the sixth-seeded team of Summitt and Hook won their first three matches before falling to Coe's Klaas and Starkenberg in the semifinals. In the consolation match, Summitt and Hook beat Wartburg's Wilson and Grant, 8-5 to finish in third.

Simpson's next match of the fall season is against Central at Buxton Memorial Tennis Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.
