Storm fall to Wartburg

INDIANOLA, Iowa – A short-handed Simpson men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Wartburg on Saturday afternoon.

The Storm (4-14, 0-7 Iowa Conference) were forced to default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, giving the Knights (13-6, 4-4) two points out of the gates.

Simpson put up a good fight in doubles. At No. 1, the team of Adam Summitt and Blake Billings lost 8-5 and the No. 2 team of Alex Hook and Jeff Armstrong lost by the same score.

In singles, Summitt provided the best scoring opportunity. Taking on Chris Buckingham at the No. 1 spot, Summitt forced a super tiebreaker before falling 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.

Simpson closes the regular season this weekend when it hosts North Central (Minn.) and Buena Vista on Saturday, April 28. The North Central match is set for 1 p.m. and the Buena Vista match 3 p.m.
