Legg paces Storm on final day of conference championships

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - Avin Legg fired a final round of 74 to lead the Simpson College men's golf team on the final day of the American Rivers Conference Championships.

Legg's 74 was the best single score of a Storm player at the conference championships since Nathan Eaton (73) and Andrew Lallier (72) in the final round of the 2018 championships. Legg, who tied for 14th overall, also recorded the best individual finish since Reid Cobb's fifth-place finish in 2017.

The freshman led the Storm for the second time at an event this season, the first coming in the opening event of the year in the fall. Simpson fired a 309 on the final day to claim sixth place, finishing ahead of Buena Vista, Coe, and Loras.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Legg moved eight spots on the day, with his round including five birdies. The freshman made seven birdies throughout the tourney, tying for the fifth most out of all players.
• Legg was two-over par over 12 par 3 holes, tying for the second-best scoring average on par 3 holes in the entire tournament.
• The Storm finished in sixth place overall, moving up two spots from last year's finish. The team also shot 48 strokes better than last year, with a three-day total of 950.
• Jack Wahman and Bradley Kofoed also recorded top 20 finishes for the Storm.
• Wahman fired a final-round 78 to tie for 17th, while Kofoed shot a 77 to tie for 20th.
