The 2011-12 season marks Katie Kitzman's second as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Simpson. She is 2010 Simpson graduate and was a two-year starter and letterwinner for the Storm women’s basketball team.

As a shooting guard, Kitzman helped lead Simpson to back-to-back Iowa Conference titles after transferring from Marshalltown Community College. As a senior, Kitzman earned First Team All-Iowa Conference honors last year and was a two-time academic all-conference selection. As a senior she was second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.3 points per game to go along with 4.0 rebounds. She was the team’s most efficient three-point threat, shooting 42 percent from beyond the arc.
