Bio

The 2011-12 season marks Whitney Franker's third on the women's basketball staff. Since joining the coaching staff in 2009, Franker has helped the Storm to back-to-back Iowa Conference championships and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.

Franker also serves as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team.

A 2009 Simpson graduate, Franker was a two-sport athlete for the Storm, excelling as a goalkeeper in soccer and a forward on the basketball team. A four-year letterwinner in each sport, Franker won three Iowa Conference Championships in basketball and one in soccer, helping the Storm to four Division III Championship appearances in basketball. Franker was a part of Simpson’s Sweet 16 runs on the hardcourt in 2007 and 2008.

A native of Urbandale, Iowa, Franker was a two-time first team all-conference selection in both soccer and basketball. As a goalkeeper, Franker appeared in 67 matches in her career, making 395 saves and a school-record 23 shutouts. Franker earned first-team all-conference honors in 2006 and 2008. In basketball, Franker took home first-team honors in 2007-08 and 2008-09.
