This is Ferguson's second time around coaching the Storm linebackers. During his first five seasons at Simpson (2003-07), he coached linebackers and kickers, serving as the co-defensive coordinator in 2007. He began coaching the offensive line in 2008, when Simpson led the league in rushing. In 2009, the offensive line paved the way for the second-leading rushing offense in the IIAC.

From 2011-13, Ferguson's unit protected one of the Iowa Conference's top passing attacks. Danny Kelley earned first team all-conference honors in 2012 and Patrick Thompson was a first-team pick in 2013. The Storm ranked second in the IIAC in total offense in 2013 with 432.6 yards per game.

Center Corey Meyer was a first team all-IIAC pick in 2014.

Before coming to Simpson, Ferguson spent two years as a teacher and assistant football coach at Norwalk High School.

Ferguson lettered four times for the Storm as a player, earning Academic All-Conference honors twice. He was a member of the Simpson squad that won the Iowa Conference in 1997 and advanced to the national semifinals. Kevin and his wife Beth have three children: sons Blake and newborn Tanner and daughter Cara.
