Taylor Nelson etched his name into Simpson football history, where he still holds records nearly a decade after his last game. A prolific quarterback, Taylor leads the record books in passing yards (9,556), completions (851), passing attempts (1,373), touchdowns (77), completion percentage (62.0), total offense (10,771), total touchdowns responsible for (100), and total offense per game (269.3).

In his standout 2013 season, Taylor was named the Iowa Conference Offensive MVP and earned first team all-conference honors. The previous year, he received second team all-conference recognition. Taylor led the Storm to a 7-3 record in 2013, with a strong 5-2 mark in conference play, securing a second-place finish. Taylor’s remarkable consistency and playmaking ability made him a force to be reckoned with and earned him a permanent place in Simpson’s athletic legacy. His individual achievements continue to resonate, as he holds single-season records for completion percentage (65.5) and touchdowns (34) in 2013, as well as total offense per game (324.4) in 2012. In addition, Taylor's 39 completions against Buena Vista in November 2012 are tied for the most in conference history for a single-game.

Taylor graduated in 2014 with a degree in sports administration and marketing.
