Women's golf in third place after round three

DECORAH, Iowa (Oct. 2, 2009) – The Simpson women's golf team remained comfortably in third place at the 2009 Iowa Conference Women's Golf Championship after the completion of the third round at a cold and wet Oneota Golf and Country Club Friday.

Katie Vaux overtook Megan Smith for the top spot on the Simpson lineup after carding a 26-over 242 (82, 80). Vaux moved from eighth to fourth overall with Friday's performance. Smith went from a tie for fifth to a tie for seventh after her round of 246 (83, 77).

Taylor Hillery sits in 14th after a carding a 252 (83, 80), Kayla Miller is in 19th after shooting a 265 (87, 90) and Chelsy Manny shot a 268 (92, 85), good for 25th overall.

Wartburg leads the tournament with three-round total of 956, followed closely by Central in second with a 959. Simpson sits in third at an even 1,000 after three rounds, followed by Luther (1,024), Buena Vista (1,090), Coe (1,093), Loras (1,094), and Dubuqe (1,273).

The fourth and final round takes place Saturday from Oneota Golf and Country Club. The first tee-time is set for 9 a.m., with the final group, including Vaux, taking to the course at 10:44 a.m.
