he Simpspon softball team saw its run in the regional round of the 2016 NCAA Championship come to a close Saturday afternoon with an 8-3 loss to St. Catherine. Simpson beat Wis.-Superior 5-0 earlier in the day but were eliminated with the loss to the Wildcats.

The Simpson softball team's NCAA Division III Championship opener against St. Catherine has been moved up to a 9 a.m. start Friday, May 13. Originally scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., Friday's games were moved up due to forecasted afternoon showers.

The Simpson softball team begins the 2016 Iowa Conference Tournament on Saturday, May 7 in Decorah, Iowa. The No. 2 seed Storm will play the winner of No. 3 seed Buena Vista and No. 6 seed Wartburg, which play at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
