Storm cross country teams receive USTFCCCA All-Academic status

NEW ORLEANS -- The Simpson men's and women's cross country teams received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic recognition, as announced Thursday.

For a team to be considered for this honor, it must have compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Overall, there were 393 teams honored by the USTFCCCA. In order to qualify for this honor as an individual, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

The Storm women posted a grade-point average of 3.63 and the men showcased a 3.13 GPA during the fall semester. As a unit, the women finished 20th at the NCAA Central Regional and the men crossed the finish in 12th. Trey Thompson was the lone individual to be selected for Simpson. Thompson finished in 24th place at the NCAA Central Regional and currently majors in elementary education.
