Harris clocks school record at Liberal Arts Championships

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- On day two of the Liberal Arts Championships, hosted by Coe College, junior Alyssa Harris broke her own school record in the 200-yard individual medley to lead the Simpson College swimming and diving teams Friday.

Both the men and women are currently fifth in the standings with one day remaining at the championships.

Harris clocked a time of 2:18.14 to clip her previous record of 2:19.40 set on Feb. 14, 2019. Harris ended third in the race for the Storm's best finish inside the Coe Natatorium.

The 400-yard medley relay group of Madison DePover, Katie Oosterhuis, Caroline Oberg and Harris collected fourth with a time of 4:32.54. The quartet of Katie Cardoza, Sarah Prendergast, Oberg and Harris trimmed eight seconds off the previous season-best mark in the 200-yard freestyle relay to end fourth in 1:49.77.

DePover secured a career best in the 200-yard breaststroke by hitting the wall in 2:50.40 for fifth. Prendergast was cruising in the 500-yard freestyle by clocking a time of 5:41.79, nearly 30 seconds quicker than her previous season best in the event.
