Simpson begins 2010-11 season
INDIANOLA - The Simpson men's swimming team began its second season Saturday, opening with losses to Luther and Morningside in a double-dual at the Simpson Pool.
Luther beat Simpson 97-16, while Morningside won 93-19.
The Storm (0-2) got their top finish of the day in the 200-meter freestyle relay, placing second. The relay team swam a 1:54.90, eight seconds behind Morningside's 'A' team.
Dustin Martens turned in a third-place performance in the 50-meter backstroke, finishing the event in 36.47. Brody Swanson added a pair of fourth-place finishes, in the 100-meter butterfly (1:06.41) and the 100-meter IM (1:10.07).
Simpson returns to the water Friday when it takes on Iowa Central in a dual at Fort Dodge. The contest is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
