Bio

The 2012 season marks Emilio Mendoza's third as an assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach at Simpson. Most recently, Mendoza coached the freshman team at Dowling Catholic High School before coming to Simpson.

Mendoza’s experience coaching volleyball spans 20 years, coaching various club and high school teams. Currently, he serves as the director and coaches for USA Volleyball’s Champions Sports Center. He has also coached the IPVA, Iowa Rockets and is the former director and coach at Sports University of USA Volleyball.

Mendoza’s high school experience includes stints with Dowling Catholic, Waukee and Indianola, where he worked primarily with the freshman and junior varsity teams. Collegiately, he spent time as an assistant at Grand View (2007-08) and Central (2006-07). He spent five years as an NCAA Referee and started the Iowa Region High Performance program in 2001.

Emilio and his wife, Barb, reside in Grimes with their daughters Tessa and Isabel.
