Former Iowa Hawkeye standout Amanda Zust is in her first season on the Simpson coaching staff in 2018.

Zust has also served on the coaching staff at Drake University. During her playing days in Iowa City, Zust was one of the Hawkeyes' top ptichers, coing 56-27 with 597 career strikeouts. The Des Moines native ranks in the school’s top-10 in several categories, including career games, innings pitched, complete games, wins and strikeouts.

As a high-schooler at Des Moines East, Zust earned 2006 Iowa Class 4A Player and Pitcher of the Year honors for the State Champion Scarlet under then-assistant coach Nicole Wood. Additionally, she earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America honors and was 66-14 with 798 strikeouts and an 0.86 ERA.
