Bio

Adam Urness begins his second stint on the Storm coaching staff in 2013. A native of Clarion, Iowa, Urness spent the 2012-13 season as a graduate assistant on the men's basketball staff at Drake University before returning to his alma mater.

Urness joins the Simpson men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach. His duties will include recruiting, player development, video editing, opponent scouting, and program operations and logistics. He will also serve as the Special Projects and Administrative Supervisor within the athletic department. 

As a graduate assistant with the men’s basketball program at Drake, his duties included day-to-day program operations, recruiting coordination, and video editing. He was responsible for overseeing the program budget and undergraduate managers, assisted in scouting report preparations, and was involved with on-court drills and scouting instruction during practices and individual workouts.

Prior to his tenure at Drake, Urness spent three seasons as a student assistant within the Simpson men’s basketball program under the tutelage of Bruce Wilson and current head coach Charles Zanders.

Along with his in-season experience, he also spent his college summers working with the AAU organization, Kingdom Hoops, based out of Ankeny, Iowa and coached in more than 40 basketball camps throughout the Midwest.

Urness earned his undergraduate degree in sports administration with a minor in coaching from Simpson College in May 2012. He currently resides in Des Moines, Iowa.
