Bio

Mark Bishop comes to Simpson with over 35 years of coaching experience at high school level, compiling over 500 wins in his career. 

For the past four years, Bishop was the assistant coach at Urbandale High School. Bishop was the head coach for the Carrollton RL Turner and Lewisville Hebron High Schools in Texas. During his time at Lewisville Hebron, he led the program to 20 state playoff berths, seven district championships, and three regional appearances. He was selected as Texas District 8 Coach of the Year eight times and was a nominee for the State of Texas Sponsor of Excellence Award in 2013 after guiding to Lewisville Hebron to 36 straight wins. In 2018, Bishop was selected as the Dallas Morning News Coach of the Year. 

Bishop began his coaching career in 1981 at Goldfield High School in Iowa before becoming the assistant at Carrollton in 1987. After becoming the head coach in 1996, Bishop spent the next 22 years as the head coach between Carrollton and Lewisville Hebron.

A 1980 graduate of Luther College with a degree in education, Bishop was a dual-sport athlete in both basketball and baseball. Bishop was a three-year letterwinner on the basketball team and a four-year letterwinner on the baseball team, earning all-conference honorable mention honors in basketball.

A native of Algona, Iowa, Bishop and his wife, Debra, have a son, Adam, and a daughter, Jordan. Adam lives in Texas with his wife Liz and Jordan lives in Waukee, Iowa with her husband, Kyle. Bishop and his wife also have four grandchildren, Riley, Ella, Jack, and Sam.
