Bio

Anfernee Roberts joined the Simpson football coaching staff on Jan. 5, 2023. Roberts will serve as the special teams coordinator under first-year head coach Reed Hoskins. 

Roberts spent the last three seasons on the sidelines with Hoskins at Illinois Wesleyan as the running backs coach and special teams coordinator.  

Prior to his stint at Illinois Wesleyan, Roberts spent two years as the assistant varsity offensive coordinator and head junior varsity offensive coordinator at Olympia High School (Stanford, Ill.) from 2018-20. He worked with the running backs and defensive backs, helping the staff turn around a program that had not won a game in three years. 

Roberts also spent time at Tri-Valley High School (Downs, Ill.) as a varsity assistant for football and baseball and junior varsity offensive coordinator for football. He coached two consecutive years of 2000+ yard rushers and helped guide the team to two Heart of Illinois Conference Championships. 

Originally from Flossmoor, Ill., Roberts graduated from Illinois Wesleyan in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He was a four-year letterwinner as a running back for the Titans.
