John Sirianni is in his second year as a Special Assistant to the President after spending more than 28 years as Simpson's Director of Athletics.

After serving as Director of Athletics since 1984, Sirianni announced on Monday, Jan. 21 that he would retire in the fall of 2014 and serve as a Special Assistant to the President until that time. In his current role, Sirianni focuses on fundraising for a new fitness center and assisting in the launch of a new health care administration program, in addition to a number of small capital projects for the athletic department.

Since Sirianni's tenure began, he has built the Simpson athletic program into one of the most well-respected in the Iowa Conference, the region, and the nation. Under Sirianni, Simpson has won two NCAA Division III National Championships (the 1997 and 1999 softball titles), 61 Iowa Conference titles and earned 61 NCAA tournament berths. Simpson programs landed 15 top-four NCAA Division III team finishes under Sirianni.

Sirianni served as Simpson baseball coach from 1985-2006 and is 1-of-38 Division III baseball coaches to win at least 500 games in a career. He ended his coaching career with a 510-307-2 record, earned Iowa Conference Coach of the Year honors seven times and regional Coach of the Year honors on two occasions. Simpson players landed 82 All-Conference selections with 24 earning All-Region honors. Sirianni coached three All-Americans and saw seven sign professional contracts.

Sirianni earned both his bachelor’s (1972) and master’s (1982) degrees from Iowa State University. John and his wife Ginger, have four children, Jay, Lynn, Amy, and Mike. The Sirianni family resides in Indianola, Iowa.
