Bio

Between 2006-09, the Simpson women’s basketball and soccer programs tallied a combined four conference championships as Whitney Franker Lawler ’09 served as the lifeblood on those teams. Lawler was a four-time letterwinner on both teams during her time at Simpson and was named All-IIAC First Team twice with both squads. She was named the Barborka Award Winner as a senior in 2009.

Lawler guided the Storm to their last conference championship in women’s soccer as a goalkeeper in 2006. The team ended the season with six straight shutouts and only allowed more than one goal once during the whole season. As a member of the team for four years, Lawler graduated with school records in saves (401), wins (39) and shutouts (24) to help Simpson garner three seasons with 10-plus victories.

On the hardwood, Lawler was part of a class that went 98-19 over the course of four seasons and only lost three games at home in 47 chances. During that impressive span of dominance inside Cowles Fieldhouse, the Storm played in four NCAA Tournaments and advanced to two Sweet 16 contests. Lawler appeared in 111 career games and scored just under 930 career points and grabbed a shade under 400 rebounds.

Lawler graduated in 2009 from Simpson with a degree in sports administration and went on to receive her master’s from Regis University in 2016 in athletic administration.
