Bio

Catie Ellingson ’12 is one of only two female student-athletes in school history to earn All-American status in both cross country and track and field. In cross country, the two-time national qualifier earned All-American honors with a 34th place finish in 2010. She added five more All-American awards in track and field, including three in the outdoor 1500-meter run. Each of Ellingson’s All-American finishes in track were top-5 placings, led by a runner-up finish in the 1500m in 2010.

Along with her national recognition, Ellingson was an eight-time IIAC Champion in track, a 13-time all-conference honoree in track, and was named the league’s Most Valuable Performer at the 2011 Indoor Track and Field Championships after capturing her third title in the mile and second in the 800 meters. She also was a four-time all-conference performer in cross country, a feat only one other runner has accomplished in program history.

The 2011 Barborka Award recipient still holds school records in four individual events (indoor 800m, indoor 1000m, indoor mile, outdoor 1500m) and three team events (indoor 4x800, indoor DMR, outdoor 1600m medley).

Ellingson received a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Simpson in 2012. Ellingson’s late father, Keith, was a longtime Simpson track and field coach, while her mother, Kristi, was also a  former Simpson employee for many years. She currently resides in Peoria, Ariz. and works for JAMF, a company specializing in Apple-related software.
