Bio

One of just five Simpson women's soccer players to earn Iowa Athletic Conference MVP honors, Ashley Curran Vanderheiden '07 was crucial in the Storm picking up their second conference title in 2006. The three-time all-conference first team selection pushed Simpson to the top of the league standings in 2006 for just the second time since the program's first season in 1996. The 2006 squad ended 7-0-1 to garner a league championship, first since 1999. Vanderheiden finished the season with 19 goals and 10 assists to be named the MVP.

During her stellar career, Vanderheiden played all 78 matches to close with 149 points, 54 goals and 41 assists to rank inside the top five in all three categories in team history. Simpson finished lower than third just once during her four years on the pitch and racked up 49 victories, including 22 against conference opponents.

Vanderheiden graduated from Simpson in 2007 with a degree in sports administration and a minor in business management. She is married to Simpson alum, Grant Vanderheiden '05 and the couple have a son, Kruz (5). Vanderheiden works at Affiliates Management Company in West Des Moines as a Legal Operations Admin Manager.
