Bio

Tara Christensen Wachendorf ’10 was a vital part to the success of Simpson women’s    volleyball in the late 2000’s. Along with earning AVCA Honorable Mention All-American accolades in both 2008 and 2009, Wachendorf was tabbed all-region twice and became just the 10th player in conference history to receive All-IIAC honors four times. 

Wachendorf amassed a program-record 5,554 assists throughout her career, leading the team to two IIAC Championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances. She led the conference in assists in both 2006 and 2009, and finished her career ranked top-25 in NCAA Division III history for career assists. 

While at Simpson, Wachendorf was a three-year member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and served as a Student Ambassador from 2008-10. She was also named Homecoming Queen in 2009. 

Wachendorf received her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Simpson in 2010 and currently resides in North Liberty, Iowa with her husband, James. The couple have two sons, Jensen and Tate. Wachendorf serves as the Vice President and Public Relations Director of the GreenState Credit Union. She is also President of the GreenState Foundation, a separate 501(c)3 charitable entity.
