Bio

Lauren Bucklin Nelson '10 etched her name into Simpson women's track and field history as one of four student-athletes to earn at least eight All-American honors during their career. Nelson can be referred as the best hurdler in program history with eight All-American nods. She was a four-time conference champion and earned all-conference honors on 16 occasions, while collecting 2009 IIAC MVP accolades. She finished in the top five at the national championships on four occassions and helped the 2010 squad finish 15th at the championships.

Nelson's name is still littered five times in the Simpson record books. She's currently first in the 55, 100, 400-meter hurdles, 4x200 and 1600-meter relays. In addition to her efforts on the track, Nelson was a standout inside the classroom. The 2010 Barborka Award recipient was named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American for the only such honoree in program history.

Nelson graduated in 2010 with a degree in psychology and earned her master's degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Iowa in 2013. She currently works for the Heartland Area Education Agency in Johnston as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

She is married to SC alum, Bill Nelson '08 and the couple have three boys, Oliver, Sullivan and Ellis.
