Davis, Jacobson to lead spirit programs

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson alum Tricia Davis and Indianola native Meagan Jacobson will lead the Simpson spirit programs in 2011-12.

Davis, a 2010 graduate and current Simpson admissions counselor, will lead the cheer team and assist with the dance team. Jacobson will serve as the head dance coach and assist with the cheer team.

“We are very happy to have Tricia and Meagan on board,” Athletics Director John Sirianni said. “Both ladies bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm into their respective positions. We have the utmost confidence they will take our cheer and dance programs to the next level while increasing each program’s role and visibility in the Indianola and Simpson communities.”

Davis boasts several years of experience in cheerleading and was the captain of her high school team. She also spent two years leading a cheerleading squad at the YMCA, where she choreographed routines, arranged performances and planned practices. She joined Simpson as an admissions counselor in February 2011. At Simpson, Davis was a four-year letterwinner in cross country and track and field and spent three seasons as the captain of the cross country squad.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the Simpson cheer and dance teams,” Davis said. “Both teams are a representation of school spirit and pride. I look forward to being a part of that and helping the teams grow and achieve their goals.”

A 2005 graduate of Morningside, Jacobson was active on the dance team and assisted with cheer throughout her time in Sioux City. She brings more than 21 years of dance training with her to Simpson. Jacobson graduated with a double major in corporate communications and advertising while minoring in sports administration and dance. She currently serves as the development manager for a non-profit in West Des Moines.

“Being part of the Simpson staff is an enormous opportunity,” Jacobson said. “I am looking forward to working with the dance team this school year.”
