Bio

Mike Hadden enters his 22nd year at Simpson in 2018-19, where he currently serves as an athletic trainer.

In addition to his duties as a faculty member in the Department of Sport Science and Health Education, Hadden also serves as an athletic trainer for the football team.

Hadden is NATABOC certified and a state licensed Athletic Trainer. He is also nationally certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the International Weightlifting Association. Hadden earned an undergraduate degree from Buena Vista University and his masters degree from the University of Kansas in biomechanics.

In 2008, Hadden was recognized as the The Iowa Athletic Trainers’ Society (IATS) Educator of the Year. Since Hadden's arrival at Simpson in 1997, the Athletic Training Program has grown exponentially, wtih enrollment growing over 300% and doubling the staff size. He has taught almost every course in the Athletic Training curriculum, although now focuses primarily with Administration, Rehabilitation, and General Medical courses. He has also taught courses in Simpson’s cornerstone general education program. In 2007, he was awarded Simpson’s Outstanding Junior Faculty Award. 

Hadden advises many students and is the advisor of the athletic training student organization and the college republicans. He has sat on many academic and college committees and participated in numerous college admissions events. To strengthen the overall department, Hadden was instrumental in instituting a new Exercise Science program at Simpson.

Hadden resides in Indianola, Iowa.
