David M. Halferty was a two-sport athlete for Simpson. He was a two-year letterwinner for the ctross country team from 1988-89, and was a four-year letterwinner for the track team from 1987-90. He was an All-American cross country runner, placing 3rd in 1989, was an All-Conference performer placing 7th in 1987,88, and placing 1st in 89. He earned All-Region honors in 1987 and in 1989. Halferty was also an All-American on the track, placing 5th in the 5000 meter run in 1990.
