Bio

A four-year letterwinner as a catcher on the Simpson softball team, Michelle Fowler was an integral part of the Storm’s NCAA Division III title runs in 1997 and 1999. Simpson’s career leader in hits (172), doubles (32), total bases (238) and putouts (1,039), Fowler was a two-time First Team All-American (1998-99), a two-time First Team NFCA All-Region selection (1998-99) and two-time first team all-conference performer (1998-99). In Simpson’s second national title run, Fowler earned Diamond Sports NCAA Division III Catcher of the Year Award. Simpson won NCAA Regional Championships in each of Fowler’s four seasons and added third place national finishes in 1996 and 1998 to complement the NCAA Championships. In 1999, she set Simpson records for hits and walks in a season, with 63 and 28, respectively. Fowler graduated from Simpson in 1999 with a degree in physical education with an athletic training emphasis. She then attended Mercy College of Health and Sciences, earning a degree in surgical technology in 2001. Upon graduation, she served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Simpson men’s soccer team, helping the athletic training program earn accreditation. Fowler was elected into the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Hall of Fame in 2002. As a coach, she earned district coach of the year in 2002 as the head coach at Southeast Warren, a position she held from 2002 to 2004. This spring, Fowler enters her fifth season as the head softball coach at ADM High School in Adel, Iowa, where she earned 2006 Raccoon river Conference Coach of the year accolades and led ADM to the 3-A Iowa State Softball Tournament in 2007 and 2008, finishing as the state runner-up in 2007. Fowler resides in Windsor Heights, Iowa.
