Fleshner, Kalinay post career bests at last chance meet

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Bayley Fleshner and Dylan Kalinay put themselves in prime position to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships with career-best efforts in the hurdles at the NCAA Qualifier on Friday.

Fleshner, a senior, turned in the best effort of her great career in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles, winning the three-person heat with a personal-best 14.35. The effort is easily the best of his career and puts her in a tie for 11th place in Division III. The top 22 performers in the nation will qualify for next week's NCAA Division III Championships.

Kalinay, a freshman, posted a personal-best as well, crossing the finish line in 14.61 in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles. His time is currently the 17th-fastest in Division III. The top 20 performers in the nation qualify for nationals.

Isaac Frazier competed in the high jump, clearing 6-feet, 5 1/2 inches. That effort was just shy of his season-best 6-7 1/2, which will leave him outside of the championship field.

The official list of national qualifiers will be announced Sunday morning. The championships take place May 21-23 at Merrick-Pinkard Track & Field Complex in Canton, N.Y.
