Storm men win six events at home triangular

The Simpson men's track and field team won six events at the Simpson/Central/Nebraska Wesleyan Triangular on Saturday, placing second in the team standings with 123 points. A pair of distance runners also competed at Wis.-La Crosse, putting up two of the top 10,000-meter times in school history.

Highlights
Dylan Kalinay had another big day, lowering his time in the 110 hurdles to 14.46, the No. 5 time in Division III. He has won 4 of 5 110 hurdle races this outdoor season. He also won the 200 and ran on the winning 4x100 relay team. He ran the 200 in a personal-best time of 21.73, the No. 22 time in Division III, third-fastest in school history and fastest by a Simpson runner since 1993.

• Distance runners Ian McKenzie and Trey Thompson went to the Phil Esten Challenge at Wis.-La Crosse on Saturday, running the top two 10,000 meter times in the Iowa Conference. McKenzie ran 31:29.98, the top time in the IIAC and No. 5 time in school history. Thompson came in at 31:34.17, the No. 2 time in the IIAC in the No. 6 time in school history. The times are the fastest 10ks by a Simpson runner since Ryan Edwardson in 2012.

Jonathan Facio lowered his personal-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing second in 9:46.66, the No. 3 time in the IIAC.

Josh Dietrich won the javelin throw for the fourth time in as many meets this season, registering a toss of 143-11. His toss of 168-1 at Central on April 5 still stands at No. 2 in the IIAC.
