Simpson caps regular season with sweep, achieves highest conference standing since 2010

DECORAH, Iowa – The Simpson College women's volleyball team finished the regular season on a high note, sweeping Luther 25-13, 26-24, 25-18 to secure the No. 3 seed in the American Rivers Conference Tournament.

Simpson (18-7, 5-3 A-R-C) relied on a balanced offensive attack, with four players recording at least six kills, to close out the regular season with authority. The victory, combined with other results around the league, clinched the Storm's highest regular season conference finish since 2010.

The Storm dominated early in the first set, rallied through a tense second set with a 15-4 finish after trailing by nine, and controlled the third set to notch their sixth sweep of the season.

  • Simpson's 18 wins are the most since the Storm tallied 21 in 2009. The last time Simpson earned five or more conference wins was 2010.
  • Simpson's third place conference finish is the program's best since 2010 when the Storm also tied for third place.
  • The Storm earn the No. 3 seed in the upcoming A-R-C Tournament, their highest seeding since 2009.

UP NEXT
The Storm will open the A-R-C Tournament next week with a rematch with Wartburg, which earned the No. 6 seed in the playoffs with a 4-4 conference mark. The first round will take place on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
