Balanced effort lifts Simpson past Loras on Senior Day
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Emily Williams and Morgan DenBeste each posted double doubles, Peyton Mitchell and Jada Schmdit combined for 22 kills and seven blocks, and the Simpson College women's volleyball team beat Loras 3-1 on Senior Day inside Cowles Fieldhouse.
Williams was all over the court, finishing with a match-high 17 kills, 11 digs, three solo blocks, and a game-leading four service aces. Mitchell and Schmidt chipped in 11 kills apiece and anchored the net as Simpson (17-7, 4-3 A-R-C) outblocked the Duhawks 11-6. DenBeste added 42 assists, 10 digs, and two blocks in another all-around effort.
The Storm took control early with 25-23 and 25-17 wins in the opening two sets before Loras (6-18, 2-5 A-R-C) extended the match with a 25-19 victory in the third. Simpson regrouped in the fourth, closing out the match 25-21 to secure its fourth conference win and an official spot in the American Rivers Conference Tournament beginning on Nov. 11.
